Hesco FARP Desert 1-4 by Hunter_5E
==================================

This was made and tested on an older PC - Ryzen 7 3700X 4.2 GHz, 2080-Super and old Sata SSD's. Triple monitors, not VR.
It runs well for me so should be no problem at all for those with newer hardware.
It was also made using only standard DCS components - no asset packs required.

Intended for copy & paste using the new multi selection tool in mission editor. Essentially it takes the place of a template.
Select the whole thing, press CTRL+C to copy - takes about 30 secs to copy, be patient.
Open whatever mission you want to paste it into, left click where you want it, press CTRL+V to paste.
It takes about 3 mins to paste on my PC so be patient again, it will paste.
Adjust position and rotation and you're pretty much done. Some further tweaking may be required though, see tips below.

I've made mission files for 4 Maps - Caucasus, Nevada, Persian Gulf and Syria. (I don't have Afghanistan, Iraq or Sinai yet)
Each map has 4 mission files - First Light, Day, Last Light and Moon - depending what time of day you want to view it.
If you put all 4 mission files for any map into your missions folder, you can use the comms menu (F10: Other)
to change easily between times of day. I've chosen the times carefully to look really nice. Think I hit the mark.

Definitely suits desert coloured terrain, especially when lit up. Really shows the lights nicely.
Still works and looks nice on the greens of Caucasus but looks a lot less dramatic under lights.
It could really use a levelling platform in earth colours to sit on for greener maps.
Hope we get something like that soon.

Tips for best results:-
=======================

1)
Try to use the most level ground you can find. The more level the better.
It will accomodate a bit of elevation change but not that much. Starts to show badly with more slope.
Also the more uneven the ground, the performance will start to degrade. Flatter is better.
Nothing I can do about that until ED can provide us with a better FARP base in earth colours.
Or a leveling platform of some sort that we can build on.

If you've got a pretty level bit of ground but you're getting a bit of micro stutter while flying low over it,
try moving it just a little or rotating it a little. If that doesn't fix it, look for another spot.
Try to avoid places with heavier natural vegetation. A bit of trial and error will be required to find just the right spot.

2)
Grass and clutter settings.
I've found that it runs sweet as you like in Nevada with Grass and Clutter turned right up as there's not much in there to
begin with and it's older map technology.
On newer maps like Persian Gulf and Syria I found that high Grass and Clutter setting caused a fair bit of micro stutter.
With so many lights in the FARP they struggle a bit with heavy Grass and Clutter, camp also looks pretty overgrown - not so nice.
A good solution is to turn off Grass and Clutter completely - runs smooth and the camp looks a lot cleaner and very pleasing.
If you're flying night missions then this isn't really a problem as you don't need Grass and Clutter way up anyway.
If you're flying into daytime then it's up to you how much Grass and Clutter you add to make the rest of the map look good.
A bit of a trade off required there between the camp looking good and the rest of the map looking good, see what works for you.

=========================

I started out making what I thought would be quite a simple FARP but it ended up just getting better and better the more time I
spent on it and as I realized just what I could do with it. It ended up being quite spectacular - even if I do say so myself.
It truly is a thing to behold all lit up. Something like 250 light units in there, all with 2 lights, so over 500 individual
points of light. Thought DCS would choke on that many lights but it didn't. I'm so happy it didn't!

I've really enjoyed making it and now I'm really enjoying flying in and out of it.
I hope you all get the same enjoyment from it.

Cheers, Hunter_5E
